Notes German tropical hat, c.1939-1942, WW2; acquired by Kenneth G Carter, 4th RMT Corps, 2NZEF, while in Italy during WW2 (post August 1943) Field cap worn by Panzer Grenadier (Motorised Infantry) Service of the German Army. The colour of the soutache indicates the branch of service (Waffenfarbe = branch of service colour). Soutaches were used up until August 1942. (ref.
