Description
English: Gallery organ Carcassonne Cathedral, Aude France. Built in the workshops of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, in Paris, the great organ is installed in 1860. The Neo-Gothic style oak cabinet, from 1857, is due to the Parisian carpenter Ronsin. Designed by Viollet-le-Duc, this set of cabinetry contains a series of human-sized sculptures surmounting turrets and pilasters which it is difficult to appreciate all the finesse from the nave. In the center, a magnificent archangel Saint Michael slaying the dragon and surrounded by thirteen statues of angels musicians. All these decorative parts come from the workshop of the master-sculptor Claude-Anthime Corbon.
Français : Orgue de tribune de la Cathédrale Saint-Michel de Carcassonne, Aude France. Construit dans les ateliers d'Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, à Paris, le grand orgue est installé, en 1860. Le buffet en chêne de style néogothique, de 1857, est dû au menuisier parisien Ronsin. Dessiné par Viollet-le-Duc, cet ensemble d'ébénisterie contient une série de sculptures de taille humaine surmontant tourelles et pilastres dont il est difficile d'apprécier toute la finesse depuis la nef. Au centre, un magnifique archange saint Michel terrassant le dragon et entouré de treize statues d'anges musiciens. Toutes ces parties décoratives proviennent de l'atelier du maître-sculpteur Claude-Anthime Corbon.
