This building was put up immediately after the great fire by Kline & Rosenberg, one of 4 buildings they put up in Pioneer Square, all but one of which have been completely demolished. Towle & Wilcox were the architects of this as well as the partially surviving one. Due to rushed and shoddy construction after the great Seattle fire this building collapsed not long after it was completed and had to be rebuilt. This is now the location of Occidental Park. All buildings in this half-block sustained damage in the 1949 Olympia earthquake but remained standing, gradually being demolished from 1956 to 1965. Address of Carlson Hotel should be 117 1/2 S Washington St.
