К. С. Павлов Плотник. 1838 Холст, масло. 94,5 х 77 На обороте авторская (?) надпись: 1838 Года съ натуры писалъ Капитонъ Павловъ. Пост. в 1938 через ЛЗК (собрание В. Д. Фролова) Ж-5258 Картину «Плотник» можно отнести к нечасто встре- чающемуся жанру «профессионального портрета». Очевидно, работа была выполнена с натуры: фигура работающего мужчины, загорелое лицо с крупными чертами, манера курить трубку за работой взяты из жизни. Живописец написал «Плотника» в период своей жизни в Малороссии, когда он преподавал ри- сование в Нежинской гимназии, где его учениками были Н. В. Гоголь, А. Н. Мокрицкий, Н. П. Кукольник и другие. В картине отразились впечатления худож- ника от реальной жизни, нелегкого труда, приносяще -

го мастеровому человеку истинное удовлетворение.
