English: Silver spectacle case with black velvet lining; chain attached to silver lid and clip; ornate floral embossed design on exterior, depicting two people, one with pitcher and other seated; "Belonged to Mrs Butler, wife of Capt. Wm. Butler, Mangonui. Later belonged to Mrs Lusk the wife of Major D. H. Lusk. N.B. Capt Wm. Butler (1814-75) settled at Mangonui where his first child was born, Jan. 1841. A daughter became the wife of Major D.H. Lusk. A son William James Butler, (1848-1904) born at Mangonui was a surveyor and later a Judge of the Native Land Court" (col)
