Casket Mount, as kindly identified by Rose Nicholson. Flat-backed cast figurine. This anthropomorphic fitting depicts an armless figure wearing a pointed hat, coiffure, with a possibly moustachioed face over a bare chest. It appears a garment is gathered at the breastbone, and lower detail includes its folds. Between knee and navel there are indentations to the sides of the object and an indistinct forward facing feature, perhaps a collared mask. Features below the putative mask may represent further elements of a figure for which it serves as a face.

The partially draped style and posture appears influenced by that of Classical caryatid figures, though idiosyncratically adapted, as with the hirsute face. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
