Title |
Cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle dating from c. AD1620-c. 1680 |
||
Description |
English: A complete cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle dating from the later post-medieval period, that is c. AD1620-c. 1680. The buckle frame is complete and undamaged, and the pin is still in place around the central bar. The pin was made from folded-over sheet metal and it is semicircular in cross-section The frame is symmetrical in plan and is flat at the front and rear. There are moulded grooves along the left and right outer side and there are remains of tinning on the obverse surface. This frame is very similar to one illustrated in Whitehead 1996: 84, ref: 523. Whitehead suggests a date of c. 1620-1680. |
