Description
English: Cast copper alloy shoe or knee buckle dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). The object is trapezoidal in plan and has a drilled frame for a separate spindle. There are three moulded knops on each side at the spindle holes. The buckle has a mid-green patina and the remains of tinning can be seen. It can be dated from c.1660-1720. A similar example is no. 614, p98, Whitehead, (2003).
