FAMOUS COTTAGES PAST: Perched high on a hill overlooking the Don River in what is now Rosedale, John Graves Simcoe's summer residence, Castle Frank, was named for his only son, Francis. It burnt down in 1829. This monochrome grey wash on wove paper was copied in 1895 from a drawing by Elizabeth Simcoe for John Ross Robertson. On the album page he wrote "on the North East Corner of the Table Land of St James' Cemetery where it immediately joins the Residence of the late Mr. Walter McKenzie".
