Deutsch: Das Kastell Gholaia, das durch antike Quellen auch als castra Chol(aia), [G]olas sowie in der Tabula Peutingeriana als Chosol überliefert ist, war ein römisches Militärlager, das für Sicherungs- und Überwachungsaufgaben am vorderen Limes Tripolitanus, einem tiefgestaffelten System von Kastellen und Militärposten, in der römischen Provinz Africa proconsularis zuständig war. Bauinschrift des Kastells vom Zugang des nördlichen Lagertors; höchstwahrscheinlich aus dem Gründungsjahr des Kastells 201 n. Chr. Aufbewahrt im Leptis Magna Museum in Libyen. Der Name des Kaisers Publius Septimius Geta (211) wurde durch dessen Bruder, dem Kaiser Caracalla (211–217), nach seiner Ermordung teilweise eradiert. Aufgrund ihrer Treue zu Kaiser Maximinus Thrax und dessen ihm loyal gebliebenen numidischen Statthalter Capelianus bei der Unterdrückung des Usurpators Gordian I. (238) ließ der nachfolgende Kaiser Gordian III. (238–244) die Legio III Augusta auflösen und den Namen der Legion ebenfalls eradieren.
