| Description |
English: A cemetery or graveyard is a place where the remains of dead people are buried or otherwise interred. The word cemetery implies that the land is specifically designated as a burial ground and originally applied to the Roman catacombs. The term graveyard is often used interchangeably with cemetery, but a graveyard primarily refers to a burial ground within a churchyard.
Français : Un cimetière est un groupement de sépultures parfois attenant à un lieu de culte. Espace funéraire qui apparaît au Moyen Âge, il se distingue du champ funéraire préhistorique qui n'abrite pas de monuments, et de la nécropole antique qui est nettement séparée des lieux de culte.
Deutsch: Ein Friedhof ist ein Ort, an dem Verstorbene, in den meisten Fällen begleitet von einem religiösen oder weltlichen Ritus, bestattet werden. Anlagen aus vorchristlicher Zeit werden in der Archäologie meist als Gräberfelder oder Nekropolen bezeichnet, der Begriff Friedhof findet dennoch auch für antike Anlagen Verwendung.
