Summary[edit]

The ancient Jewish cemetery at Borneplatz in Frankfurt was initially documented in 1180. The picture shows the only remaining part of it which represents its original state during medieval times. On the right some of the fragments the Nazis have left when they destroyed many of the ancient gravestones. In front of the surrounding wall of the cemetery gravestones have been placed which can't allocated to their former original place.

Der alte jüdische Friedhof am Börneplatz in Frankfurt am Main wurde 1180 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Das Foto zeigt den einzig erhaltenen Teil, der den mittelalterlichen Zustand des Gräberfeldes dokumentiert. Rechts im Bild einige Stapel der von den Nazis zerschlagenen Grabsteine. Vor der Friedhofsmauer wurden solche Grabsteine positioniert, die man nicht mehr ihrem Originalplatz zurodnen kann.
