Français : XVIIe et XIXe siècles
Le château de Beauvais, dont le gros œuvre date au moins du XVIIe siècle, est modifié à la fin du XVIIIe siècle, totalement remanié en style gothique au milieu du XIXe siècle puis encore modifié de 1903 à 1911 par l'architecte Marcel Rohard. Le parc est redessiné à l'anglaise par le paysagiste Edouard André à partir de 1869. Avant le XIIe siècle, Beauvais appartenait à l'abbaye Saint Julien de Tours puis devient un fief laïc relevant d'Amboise, donc du roi. Plus tard en 1815, le fils de Clément de Ris est accusé d'avoir caché des caisses d'or et d'argent dans le parc qui est fouillé de fond en comble. En juin 1940, lors du repli du gouvernement français de Paul Reynaud sur Bordeaux, de passage à Tours, Charles de Gaulle, alors sous secrétaire d'état à la défense nationale, loge quelques jours à Beauvais. |
