Title
ch2007-20
Description
English: A lead alloy musket ball. The shot is sub spherical. It has a diameter of 13.3mm. The ball has a pitted surface and the patina is very poor. The ball has a black mark on one side and a 4mm cut mark. The colour of the ball is light grey. The ball is complete. It is post medieval and probably dates from 1644. Musket balls are discussed in Courtney’s “Small Arms Accessories of the Mid-Seventeenth Century” (1988) and on page 202 of “Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition” by Geoff Egan (2005).
