Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Chaoborus larva showing internal anatomy, the whitish brain behind the eyes can be clearly seen just like the ventral ganglia and the nerve strings. The air bubbles are typical of the group and are a contraction of the tracheal system, that helps them survive at the bottom of deep lakes, only coming up at dusk to feed and as a hydrostatic device. The yellow part though the middle is the digesitive system. The large claws to catch prey are modified antennae.
