Woodblock illustration fromWaike xinfa zhenyan zhinan(Guide to Tried and True Methods at the Heart of External Medicine), published in 1887 (13th year of the Guangxu reign period of the Qing dynasty).It shows the exact location of thedantian(Cinnabar Field),feishu(Lung Conveyor),weilü(Coccyx) andjiaji(Flanking the Spine) points. Thedantianpoint is located 1cun(Chinese/proportionate inch), 7fen(tenths of a Chinese/proportionate inch) below the navel. Thefeishupoints are located on the back, below the spinous process of the third thoracic vertebra and 1cun5fento the side. Theweilü(Coccyx) point is located at the base of the spine,in the hollow of the 7th section, counting upwards. Thejiajipoints are located in the depressions on either side of theweilüpoint.
