Een Romeinse soldaat spoort hem aan om op te staan. Veronica biedt aan het zweet van zijn gezicht te wissen met een doek. Bij verschillende elementen uit de voorstelling staan letters. Boven de voorstelling een titel. Eronder zes versregels en een verwijzing naar Lucas 23: 26-31. De prent maakt deel uit van een album. Amsterdam, J. Klooster, 1740. De prent werd gemaakt voor de uitgaven van P.J. Paets uit Amsterdam, verschenen in de jaren 1629-1648. Ze komt voor het eerst voor in: Der Zielen Lust-hof. Leuven, I.Jacbosz voor P.J. Paets [= Amsterdam, P.J. Paets], 1629. De voorstelling is gekopieerd naar een prent van Hieronymus Wierix voor: Nadal, Jerónimo. Evangelicae Historiae Imagines.
