Summary

[edit]
Description

The church was completed in 1695 but the permanent altar wasn't installed until 1732. The altarpiece is by Nicodemus Tessins and depicts a scene from the Garden of Gethsemane. On the sides are the goddesses of piety and righteousness.

The six statues on the balustrade were created by Erich Warnheim and are wood painted to resemble marble. From left to right they are:

The cherub with the flame sword who drove Adam and Eve from paradise. The Old Testament prophet Jeremiah. The archangel Michael with his trumpet. The archangel Uriel The archangel Gabriel who told Mary that she would bear Jesus.

The archangel Raphael with his rod and jar of healing ointment.
