Salisbury Cathedral Clock, Salisbury Cathedral, UK, built around 1386, is one of the oldest working clocks in the world
Description
English: Mechanism of Salisbury cathedral clock at Salisbury Cathedral, Salisbury, UK. Built sometime around 1386, it is one of the oldest mechanical clocks in the world. It was restored in 1956 and is in working condition, and is one of the oldest working clocks in existence. It had no clock face; it was mounted in a bell tower, and it's function was to ring the canonical hours on a bell, to call the community to prayer.
