Description
English: A Post-Medieval lead alloy cloth seal 16th century in date.

This is a two disc seal with an interconnecting strip. On the first disc is the legend; "...VIALL..." around the London Coat of Arms. The second disc is blank but would probably have had the arms of England on.

For the full legend we can refer to Egan no.61 'S'VLII'PAO'VIALLE'LON // LONDINI PRO PANNIS LANICIS (seal of alnage of saleable cloths of London // for woolen cloths at London). (Egan 1995, p.40-41).
