Description |
English: A complete lead two piece cloth seal. Circular in shape measuring 24mm in diameter. On one face a central design depicts a rough shield shape within which there is a central sword with a cross patty below its tip and two pairs of stars either side of the blade. There is a cirumferencial inscription, which reads, GO( )I HALALLMS, this may be the privy mark of the individual who made the cloth. On the reverse on the rivet the number 61 or possibly 19 can be seen. Two piece cloth seals such as this example were used to mark cloth for commercial sale in the 16th and 17th centuries. |
