Title |
Cloth seal |
||
Description |
English: A small lead cloth seal, originally used for sealing a small bag or sack. There are four small spots of iron around the edge, which presumably are the remains of two wires passing through the seal. The two discs, which make up the cloth seal, are circular in shape. The two discs appear to have corroded together. Both sides of the seal appear to be undecorated, apart from a few dashes and possible decorative lines. The seal is far too worn is say for such where it is decorated or not. The surfaces of the seal have been so worn, that they are almost flat. This seal probably dates from the medieval to post-medieval period, c. 1300-1800. The seal cannot be dating any more specifically, because of the amount of wear. |
