The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA’s Terra satellite acquired a true-color image centered on the state of Coahuila, Mexico on October 30, 2017.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Coahuila, the third largest state in Mexico, straddles the rugged Sierra Madre Mountains in northeastern Mexico, with hot, arid deserts in the west relieved by cooler, moister highlands in the mountainous east. The state covers an area of about 58,520 square miles (151,566 square km), and shares a 318-mile (512-km) border with Texas along to Rio Grande River (Rio Bravo). Texas wraps around the northern tip of Coahuila and the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon sits along its southeast border. Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi share the southern border, and Durango and Chihuahua lie to the west of Coahuila. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA’s Terra satellite acquired a true-color image centered on the state of Coahuila, Mexico on October 30, 2017. Much of the land, including parts of the typically arid and semi-arid deserts in the west, flush with green. The region, along with most of eastern Mexico, has received higher-than-normal rainfall since late summer, thanks to three tropical waves in August, as well as Hurricanes Harvey, Franklin, and Tropical Storm Lydia.
