Summary[edit]
DescriptionComing soon, the ELT dome (dji-0652).tiff |
English: Construction of the frame of ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) dome was almost complete at this point in late September 2023. The steel structure has taken shape and resembles a familiar hemispherical dome. With a diameter of 88 metres and a height of 80 metres, this feat of engineering is the largest telescope dome ever built. It will protect the telescope from the exposed environment while enabling extraordinary astronomical observations. |
