Description |
English: PH Coll 1419.14 Warren G Harding (b. 1865) served as the 29th President of the United States from 1921 until his death in 1923. In the summer of 1923, Harding undertook a 40-day cross country tour of the United States to promote his policies. On July 27, 1923 he arrived in Seattle, Washington. During his six-hour visit to Seattle, Harding visited the Bell Street Pier, rode in a parade downtown, and stopped by Volunteer Park and Woodland Park. Harding gave what would be his last public address to a crowd of roughly 25,000 spectators at University Stadium. On August 2, 1923, Harding died of an apparent heart attack in San Francisco at the end of his whirlwind tour.
