Notes Part of the Charles Ramsden Collection of Signed Bindings. In a contemporary gold-tooled calf binding signed by Louis Janet. See Julien Flety, Dictionnaire des reliures francais ayant exerce de 1800 a nos jours, 1988. Macchi states; first half of century, Paris, bound by Louis Janet. Appears in the Almanachs at St. Jacques 57 in 1815; 61 in 1816 and 59 in 1826-1842. E. Thoinan (Biographie, p. 316) claims that he succeded his father and moved to St. Jacques 59 in 1819. His long carreer as a publisher of ephemera is well known, but can be studied further in Grand-Carteret's Almanach's Français, 1896 (C. Ramsden, French Bookbinders, p. 109).
