Title
Copper-alloy Hooked Tag
Description
English: An incomplete and fragmentary hooked clothing tag of early Post-Medieval date. The dress hook seems to be a Read class E, type 3 circular (see p.98, no.365) or type 8 figurative (see p.114, no.462 & 463) See Read, B. 2008. It seems unlikely that there was any open-work incorporated into the design of the body of the tag.

Due to the poor condition of this fragment the finder has sellotaped the artefact to a piece of paper to try to keep the the two crumbling parts together. Bright green patches on the surface of the artefact might be the result of a reaction between the copper-alloy and the adhesive on the sellotape.

Current incomplete length is 19.65mm, width is approximately 18.00mm, thickness is c.2.30mm and weight is approximately 1.57g including the weight of the sellotape but not the paper.
