Description |
English: Soft blue sky and puffy clouds hand over the crater, a gaping hole opening in the bare landscape. Crater Rim Historic District. The features of the designed landscape are closely aligned with the presence and chances of the natural systems. Halemaumau was the site of significant volcanic activity during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, making it the primary attraction for visitors. A series of explosive eruptions in 1924 altered both the natural and designed landscapes, causing the crater walls to collapse and destroying the parking lot and overlook.
