Title
English: Crew of unidentified ship, 1900
Description
English:

The hardworking members of a ship's crew were of many ages, nationalities, and temperaments. They had to work as a team during the long sea voyages. At the end of a trip, crew members often had a group portrait taken as a memento. This 1900 group portrait was taken on board an unidentified ship in Puget Sound. A boy sits in front with his accordion. This particular crew has white, Asian, and African-American members. Seattle photographer Wilhelm Hester, who took the picture, was known for his photos of Puget Sound's busy grain and lumber trades.
