Object history Bennhausen zählte im Alten Reich zum nassauischen Territorium und besaß kein eigenes Siegel. An die Zugehörigkeit dieser Gemeinde zur Erzdiözese Mainz erinnern das Mainzer Rad und die Farbe rot und Silber, während die Hirschkuh als Attribut des heiligen Ägidius auf eine frühere Ägidienkapelle hinweist. Das Wappen wurde am 09.11.1976 von der Bezirksregierung Neustadt genehmigt.
