Object history

Die Ähren auf goldenem Feld erinnern an den Gutshof zu Filz, welcher 1097 erstmals erwähnt wird, sowie an die Landwirtschaft, die den Ort über Jahrhunderte geprägt hat. Das Schwert weist auf das Hochgericht der reichsritterlichen Herrschaft derer „von Landenberg“ zu Wollmerath um 1777. Der Galgen stand auf der Gemarkung Filz im Distrikt „Eulenbusch“.

Der Bischofsstab ist das Attribut des hl. Nikolaus und das Rad der hl. Katharina, beide Patronen der Kirchengemeinde, die hl. Katharina bereits seit 1593.
