Object history

Das Wappenschild des Gemeindewappens ist von links unten nach rechts oben geteilt. Das obere rot-silberne Schildteil verweist auf die Zugehörigkeit zur hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim und das Oberamt Birkenfeld.

Die im unteren Teil befindliche goldene Burg und das Frauenportrait mit Krone in natürlichen Farben auf grünem Untergrund deuten auf die Entstehung des Ortsnamens und die Gräfin Loretta von Sponheim hin, die als Besitzerin der Frauenburg gilt.
