Object history
Deutsch: Die Friedhofsmauer enthält einen halbkreisförmigen Stein von 1617, der eine Kirche auf einem Dreiberg zeigt. Dieses den Ortsnamen bildlich ausdrückende Symbol — allerdings nur mit einfachem Berg - ist auch auf einer Kartusche am Rathausbrunnen von 1755 und auf Siegeln des 18. Jahrhunderts zu sehen. Im Jahre 1930 war in der Gemeinde ein Farbdruckstempel in Gebrauch, dessen Mitte durch die naturalistische Abbildung einer auf einem Berg stehenden Kirche ausgefüllt war. Sieben Jahre später setzte die Gemeinde Kirchberg an der Murr dieses „redende" Motiv in heraldisch vereinfachter Form bei gleichzeitiger Festlegung der Wappenfarben in einen Wappenschild. Die Verleihung des Wappens und der Flagge erfolgte am 24. Juli 1959 durch das Innenministerium.
