Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen der Verbandsgemeinde mit der Darstellung des Kurpfälzer Löwen, des Sponheimer Schaches und des Mainzer Rades symbolisiert die territoriale Zugehörigkeit verschiedener Regionen des heutigen Verbandsgemeindegebiets zum Erzbistum Mainz, der Grafschaft Sponheim und dem Kurfürstentum Pfalz während des Mittelalters. Daneben gehörten verschiedene Dörfer zur Wild- und Rheingrafenschaft bzw. waren in reichsritterschaftlichem Besitz. Mit der Fürstenherrlichkeit war es zu Ende, als im Jahr 1792 französische Revolutionstruppen das Nahegebiet eroberten und der gesamte linksrheinische Raum in der Folgezeit bis zum Jahr 1814 zu Frankreich kam.
