Last view of the Olympic Stadium, had to get to the hotel. Montreal Olympic Stadium built for the 1976 Summer Olympics, it is nicknamed "The Big O”. The tower was not finished in time for the Olympics. Incorporated into the stadium is the Montreal Tower, the world's tallest inclined tower at 175 metres (574 ft), with a 45-degree angle. There is a glass-encased funicular that takes visitors to the top of the Tower. This one-of-a-kind funicular can hold up to 50 passengers and is the only one in the world built along a curved structure. It was a rainy and overcast day so I did not go up. The tower was to allow the roof to be retracted on nice days but when used to retract the roof it shock the tower so bad that it was decided to leave the roof down all the time. |
