Title
DUR-5E8314
Description
English: Cast copper alloy fragment of a Roman figurine of Jupiter holding a lightning bolt in his right hand.

Only the arm and lightning bolt remains. The arm is broken just before the shoulder and the break is worn so suggesting it occurred in antiquity. The hand is clasped round the lightning bolt which is formed by a twisted cylinder with pointed ends, it is 40.2mm in length. The arm shows the muscles in both the upper and lower arm.

The patina is uneven with a mainly green surface but with some brown patches and slight pittting from corrosion.
