Description
English: A damaged and very worn Elizabeth I silver coin, dating ot he post-medieval period (1558-82).

Obverse completly worn and unidentified. Reverse: square shield with long cross forchee. Damaged around the edges and a small (4.5mm x 1.0mm) piece missing from the edge.

Diameter; 22.56mm, Thickness: 0.38mm, Weight: 1.4g

The size of this coin and reverse design suggests an Elizabeth I groat first issue dated 1558 - 1561(North 1986 p133)

or possibly; Elizabeth I threepence 2nd issue dated1561 - 1582 (North 1998 p135

Given the degree of wear and illegibility this identification is a rather speculative.
