Title
DUR-7FA399
Description
English: A complete, Post-Medieval silver sixpence of William III, AD 1694-1702.

The obverse of the coin shows a laureate and draped bust, facing right, possibly a first bust. The inscription reads GVLIELMVS III DEI GRA. The reverse depicts four crowned shields showing the Arms of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, set in a cross. The central device is very worn but may show a lion rampant. The inscription reads MAG/BR/FRA/ET/HIB/REX. The coin is worn smooth on each face and has been bent at the left side. The mint is uncertain. It measures 19.86mm in diameter and weighs 2.8g.

Spink (2010) page 361, No 3520 suggests a date of AD1695-6.
