English: A boarding team from HMCS Protecteur provides assistance to Dunia, a 30-foot dhow carrying 15 people, in the Gulf of Aden, June 11. Protecteur, part of Combined Task Force 150, assisted the dhow, which had been adrift for four days after it experienced serious mechanical problems, by providing food, water and medical assistance. Protecteur, along with HMCS Iroquois helped tow the dhow to Bossaso, Somalia. CTF 150, currently led by Canada, is comprised of warships from numerous coalition nations including France, Germany, Pakistan, Japan, Canada, United Kingdom and the U.S and is responsible for conducting Maritime Security Operations in the Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. MSO help develop security in the maritime environment, which promotes stability and global prosperity. These operations complement the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
