Description
English: Cased colored ambrotype with subject shown from the waist up, looking forward. David Lynn Magruder, a native Pennsylvanian, joined the U.S. Army in 1850; captain and assistant surgeon, Feb. 1, 1855; major and surgeon, April 16, 1862; brevetted lieutenant colonel, March 13, 1865 for "faithful and meritorious services during the war." After the war he attained the rank of brigadier general. Married Mary C. Larkin of St. Louis during the war, Oct. 15, 1863.
