Notes | There are 2 vols bound in the same style, part 1 is Davis809, part 2 is Davis810. Macchi states;North Italy, c1550. an identical example (Homeri Odissea,Basle, Oporinus, 1549) is kept in the private Alberto Falck collection (Milan) (Giulia Bologna, Legature, Mondadori, Milan, 1998, p. 93). Perhaps executed for the venetian printer Gabriel Giolito de Ferrari who used the phoenix device as his printer's mark (Martin Breslauer, Catalogue 102, p. 87, n. 55).
