Text[edit]

Mother's Heroic Efforts Fail to Save Baby's Life. Heroic attempts on the part of the mother and neighbors failed to save a two-month-old boy from a fiery death in the family home just northwest of Arvin yesterday. The tiny victim was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lister Jr., living in a cabin at the Cattani Ranch. County firemen from the Arvin substation said the five-room dwelling was completely involved in flames when they arrived. Fire investigators said the tot was trapped in the bedroom where the fire apparently originated, sparked by a wood burning heater. Mrs. Lister was chopping wood outside the cabin about 11 a.m. yesterday yesterday when her two other children, ages two and three, raced from the house screaming that the house was on fire. Mrs. Lister attempted to gain entrance to the bedroom but was driven back by the intense heat. Several other Cattani employees attempted to enter the house but were also forced back by the flames. Sheriff's Sergeant A. C. Jensen said the first two men on the scene were Leonard Dunn and James Jackson, both employed at the Cattani gin. They said they arrived at 11 a.m. and that the fire was out of control. Mrs. Lister was being treated for shock today. She slumped to the ground unconscious while firemen searched the charred ruins for the body of her son. Loss to the cabin, property of Arnold T. Cattani, 340 Haven Drive Arvin, was set at $4,000, firemen said. The Infant's remains were taken to Borgsdorf Mortuary in Arvin pending funeral arrangements.

Works copyrighted before 1964 had to have the copyright renewed sometime in the 28th year. If the copyright was not renewed the work is in the public domain. No renewal notice found for the Bakersfield Californian for items published in the year 1952. For instance I can find a renewal notice for the New York Times for this year. If you find a renewal notice under a variation of the name of the publication, or a successor name of the publication, or any other evidence to the contrary, notify me and I will delete this.
