Description
English: A U.S. Marine Corps Assault Amphibian Vehicle Recovery Model 7A1 is directed down the ramp of the M.V. 1st Lt. Jack Lummus docked at Boyne Smelter Pier, Gladstone, Australia, on March 1, 1997. Nearly 140 vehicles are being unloaded from the Maritime Prepositioning Force ship for use in exercise Tandem Thrust '97. Tandem Thrust is a combined military training exercise involving 28,000 personnel, 252 aircraft and 43 ships, and is designed to train U.S. and Australian staffs in crisis action planning and contingency response operations.
