Notes Part of the Charles Ramsden Collection of Signed Bindings. Macchi states; Metz, bound by François Grosclaude. Born at Metz february 2 1768, he set up in at "au bas de la rue des Jardins". Later in 1818 he moved to Place St. Jacques. He died on February 25 1835. Three of his works are in the Mortimer L. Schiff collection (S. de Ricci, French signed bindings, III, n. 218-220). His son, Pierre-Napoléon, born in Metz May 7 1808, was also a binder (C. Ramsden, French Bookbinders, p. 98)
