Title
English: Dexter Horton building during construction, Seattle, April 16, 1924
Description
English:

This image of the Dexter Horton Building in Seattle was taken during construction on April 16, 1924. When it opened the following year, the 15-story building at Second Avenue and Cherry Street, was one of the largest office buildings in the country at 328,000 square feet. A protected historic landmark since 1993, the building was named for Pioneer Dexter Horton (1825-1904), who arrived in Seattle in 1853 and founded the city's first bank in 1870. Visible on the right edge of the frame is a sign listing building financier S. W. Straus & Co., architect and engineer John Graham, general contractors Puget Sound Bridge & Dredging Co., and the sub-contractors and suppliers involved in the building.
