Description
Español: Dibujo de Pedro Subercaseaux de la Batalla de Maipú. La Batalla de Maipú fue un enfrentamiento armado que tuvo lugar el 5 de abril de 1818, en el valle del Maipo, cercano a Santiago de Chile, entre las fuerzas patriotas revolucionarias conformadas por soldados argentinos de las Provincias Unidas y soldados del Ejercito de Chile contra los realistas, el cual decidió la Independencia de Chile y en gran parte la del Cono Sur. Se enfrentaron el Ejército Unido (coalición del Ejercito de los Andes y el Ejercito Chileno) al mando del general en jefe José de San Martín contra el ejército realista bajo las órdenes del general Mariano Osorio.
