Description

Ball-and-stick model of the dimethyl trisulfide molecule, MeSSSMe, i.e. C2H6S3.

Colour code:

  • Carbon, C: grey
  • Hydrogen, H: white
  • Sulfur, S: yellow

Structure calculated by DFT (B3LYP hybrid functional, 6-311+G** basis set) using Spartan Student 4.1.

Model manipulated and image generated in CCDC Mercury 2.4.

Starting structure based on the C–S–S–S–C geometry in the crystal structures of Ph3CSSSCPh3 (reported in CrystEngComm (2001) 3, 120–127) and (C18H37)SSS(C18H37) (reported in Acta Cryst. (1985) C41, 72–76).
