Title |
Disk and Trumped Trumpet Headed BROOCH |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete trumpet headed brooch, with a three-quarter oval head plate that obscures the spring and axis bar, the headplate has an open loop below (when oriented head up obverse facing) which appears to the chord. A small stump is all that remains of the integral chain loop, the head narrows to the frontal disk which is simple with a central raised boss and red enamelling in the cell, there is a 'median' strip of ?niello on the head and two small eyes (one either side of the strip) on the head, also of ?niello. The brooch below the disk is broken off and missing. The brooch is badly abraded leaving the inlaid strip and eyes standing proud. |
