English: Sergeant Maj. Wesley Schaffer, sergeant major of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South, and a native of Roanoke, Va., welcomes Adm. Enrique Larranaga, Chief of Chilean Naval Operations, aboard the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), Aug. 23, 2014. American and Chilean diplomats and military officials were hosted aboard America for a key leader engagement. The KLE consisted of a tour, a formal lunch and a leadership conference discussing the importance of partnership and cooperation between the U.S. Naval forces and the Nation of Chile. SPMAGTF-South is embarked aboard America in support of her maiden transit, "America Visits the Americas." The transit aims to demonstrate the capabilities the Navy-Marine Corps team brings to our nation and partners. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Donald Holbert/ Released) |
