Notes Bound in Paris by Simon Vostre, c. 1505-1515. Edges gilt and gauffered with large stylized fleurons, possibly later. . [Macchi states; first quarter century, Paris, bound by the Atelier Louis XII workshop, apparently the first in France to use tooling in gold, probably located in Paris. About 45 known examples. The royal Blois library books were transferred 1544 by François I to Fontainebleau (É. Dacier, Les premières reliures, 1933, pp. 7-40)
